Levi M Wines

According to Levi's Civil War Record, he was a Private in Company B, 13th New Hampshire Infantry. His enlistment date was 12 June 1862 and his discharge date was 28 June 1865; he served 3 years. At the time, he lived in Marinette, Marinette, WI. Levi lost his leg as a result of an injury in the Civil War. He incurred a disability (leg removed) in 1878.

His obituary reads as follows: 'Levi M. Wines, a veteran of the Civil War, died Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at his home, 918 Parnell Street, following a long illness due to the disabilities of his advanced age, 84 years. He was born in Newport, NH, December 7, 1826. In 1862, he enlisted in Co. B 13th Regiment, New Hampshire Volunteers and served through the entire period of the War, three and one-half years. Shortly after his honorable discharge in 1865, he removed to Wisconsin and settled in Winesville, a village in the county which was named for him.'
